Migrant rapists crossed the Channel and attacked again

-

A PAIR of rapists released from prison in France came to Britain and raped again, a court has heard.

Ovidiu and Andrei Mamaliga, brothers from Romania, attacked a woman in May in west London, having left prison in France a year earlier.

The case will raise renewed ques- tions over the checks made on potential criminals at Britain’s borders.

Each brother has now been jailed for 12 years with a further eight years to be served on licence. Police believe there could be more victims in the UK and appealed for them to come forward. The brothers, aged 30 and 28, approached the woman, in her 40s, at her home in Ealing, west London. One followed her inside and asked to go to the lavatory.

When she declined the brothers attacked her, tying her up, stripping her and then raping her. They fled with cash, jewellery and phones.

Det Insp Tim Desai, of the Metropolitan Police, said: “This was a horrific sex attack committed by two brothers who pose a huge danger to women and should be behind bars.”

The brothers were found guilty at Isleworth Crown Court of rape, sexual assault, attempted rape, actual bodily harm and theft. When arrested, the brothers denied involvement but were caught by CCTV footage, phone signals, DNA evidence and travel card records. Applications have been made to have both deported upon their release.
