Storm brings warning of 80mph winds
♦ Storm Caroline is set to hit Britain tomorrow, bringing winds of up to 80mph.
It is the third UK storm of the season to be named by the Met Office. A severe weather warning for wind has been issued for northern Scotland.
Forecasters warned drivers to take care and said that train passengers are likely to be hit by longer journeys and cancellations.
With widespread gusts of up to 70mph, the Met Office said coastal communities were expected to be affected by large waves. The yellow weather warning for wind is in force from 8am to 11.55pm.
The Met Office said: “Storm Caroline is expected to bring a spell of very windy weather to northern Scotland on Thursday.
“Gusts of 60-70 mph are expected quite widely, with gusts to 80mph possible near north-facing mainland coasts and across the isles.”
