Austria latest nation to back same-sex marriage

Austria’s highest court has ruled that same-sex couples can marry from 2019 at the latest, bringing the country into line with 15 other European nations.

“The constitutional court nullified with a decision on Dec 4 2017 the legal regulation that until now prevented such couples from marrying,” a statement released yesterday said. A lesbian couple who brought the case, and four other couples who complained, have been allowed to marry now.
