Hanging branches

SIR – A fair number of wire coat hangers (Letters, December 5) can be seen down on Twickenham Riverside, covered in strips of plastic bags and other recycled material.

They are adorning a Christmas tree that is now in its fifth year. The majority of “wreaths” have braved the wind and rain for four years and are still looking amazing. The tree’s topknot is made up of two old hanging baskets joined together. I hope that Sir David Attenborough, looking down on us from Richmond Hill, is delighted with the result. Sue Hamilton-miller
