Worker seriously hurt in Commons bar brawl
A bar on the House of Commons estate has been closed temporarily after a fight broke out which left one member of staff seriously injured after allegedly being struck with a glass.
The incident took place outside the bar on Tuesday evening and reportedly involved two men, aged 57 and 64. One was arrested for grievous bodily harm and the other was taken to hospital in an ambulance. A House of Lords spokesman said: “An investigation is under way and the [Sports & Social Club] bar will be temporarily closed.” The bar, notorious for cheap alcohol, is used by young parliamentary aides and older staff who work on the estate.
