Seventh-day Adventist made unchristian claim
A row between two churchgoers whose children were in a relationship ended in a High Court battle after one told the congregation the other had threatened to slit their throat.
Businessman Raj Dhir, 75, won £35,000 in damages after he brought a slander claim against Bronte Saddler, who is also in her 70s and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Meanwood Road, Leeds.
Mrs Saddler’s son, Andrew, has, since 2001, had an on-off relationship with Mr Dhir’s daughter, Reena, which has led the two families into conflict and acrimony, said Mr Justice Nicklin yesterday.
