Embassy staff in Cuba left with brain injuries
The brains of American and Canadian diplomats who left Cuba after suffering from a possible “sonic attack” have been permanently damaged, doctors believe, as they struggle to understand what caused the bizarre symptoms.
Medical testing has revealed the embassy workers developed changes to the white matter tracts that let different parts of the brain communicate, several US officials said. White matter acts like information highways between brain cells.
Yet doctors are now sceptical that a “sonic attack” caused the symptoms.
