Uber app’s licence is suspended in Sheffield

-

Uber has lost its licence in a second English city after the company “failed to respond to questions about its management”.

Sheffield city council said yesterday that it had suspended the taxi-hailing app’s licence, meaning it can only continue operating until Dec 18. It can carry on doing business beyond that if it lodges an appeal.

The technology company failed to have its licence to operate in London renewed earlier this year.

Uber said it informed Sheffield city council in October that it would need to change the name on its licence as the named individual would be leaving the company, but was told it would have to apply for a new licence, which is currently being processed.
