Children’s annoying noise is part of Christmas

-

sir – I was fascinated to read the article about parents not spending money on their children at Christmas (Features, December 6).

Will the mother of the children receiving presents made of leaves also be getting a leaf-based gift? Or is it just the children who will be short-changed?

As for the advice not to buy gifts that trip you over, or that play annoying music, this fails to understand what Christmas is about. It isn’t Christmas if there isn’t something playing music or tripping people up.

sir – You report (December 6) that children are far more inventive if they receive just one or two gifts.

When my son was two, our sitting room carpet was covered with toys, yet he happily played with a discarded pipe tobacco tin.
