Husband is jailed for raping his drunk wife

A WOMAN who reported being raped after a night out later discovered it was her husband who attacked her.

The man, who is in his thirties and cannot be named, has been jailed after DNA evidence was used to prosecute him. Reading Crown Court heard that the couple had argued at a barbecue on May 14 last year and that the wife had left and continued drinking at a bar. The man was later told by a member of the public that his wife was passed out on a bench. He took her home, then raped her while their children slept. The next day she told him she believed she had been sexually assaulted. He advised her to contact the police. Officers took swabs that proved the attack was carried out by her husband. Judge Alexia Durran described the wife’s “total shock” as she jailed the man for seven years.
