Wedding venue owners apologise to Romanian for racist slur

- By Daily Telegraph Reporter

THE owners of a wedding venue have apologised after a Romanian man was branded a “Slavic c---” on Facebook.

Malcolm and James Innes issued an apology for subjecting the visitor to their venue’s page to the abuse. The exchange was shared on social media and went viral within hours, with customers promising to boycott Hendre Hall at Talybont, near Bangor, in Wales.

In a statement, the owners said they had “taken down our Facebook page to protect staff, suppliers and tenants”.

The race row erupted after a series of messages from Hendre Hall’s Facebook were put into the public domain. A Romanian visitor had asked if his passport would be accepted as proof of age at an event. The hall’s Facebook account responded: “Thank God for Brexit! All the best you Slavic c---.”

A comment on the hall’s page and signed off with the name James, blamed the outburst on frustration at being targeted by online trolls.
