False dawn?

Christie’s has withdrawn from sale a map that was believed to be among the first to use the name “America” after its authenticity was questioned. Thought to be a fifth original of a map c1507 by Martin Waldseemülle, the German cartographer, it had been expected to fetch up to £900,000.
