The Art of Living: Listening Without Ears RADIO 4, 11.30AM

Eloise Garland is a professional singer, violinist and teacher, which is perhaps surprising, given that she began to lose her hearing 15 years ago. In this edition of The Art of Living, she discusses the ways she engages with music and sound, and meets Tarek Atoui, a Lebanese sound artist and composer who works with deaf and hearing people using instruments that enable an appreciation of music that goes beyond the aural and questions what most of us think we know about the act of listening.

Grenfell: Dust On Our Lips RADIO 4, 8.00PM

It’s six months since the horrific fire that devastated Grenfell Tower, and for those who live nearby the burnt-out building is a daily reminder of the tragic event and trauma they suffered. As the Grenfell inquiry gets under way, Faisal Metalsi, who has lived his whole life in the area, asks fellow locals how they feel about the tower and what they think should happen to it, from those who believe it should be taken down as soon as possible, to those who want it to remain as a grim warning of the dangers of catastrophic failures of management.
