♦ Tonic sales in Britain have risen above £100million for the first time, driven by upmarket versions and demand for gin.
As craft gins became more popular, tonic sales rose too, topping £116million – a rise of 37 per cent in the past year.
Mixer brands such as Fever-tree and Fentiman’s performed especially well in the past year, said analysts Kantar Worldpanel. Sales of Fevertree grew 65 per cent to £42million while Fentimans almost doubled its value to more than £5 million.
