Ambassador agrees visit
Donald Trump’s visit to the UK in the new year will go ahead, America’s ambassador to Britain has suggested.
Theresa May rebuked Mr Trump after he retweeted anti-muslim videos, which prompted an angry response from him. It led to speculation that the “special relationship” between the two nations had been damaged.
But asked if Mr Trump will be making the trip, Woody Johnson said: “Absolutely. I think he will come. I am hoping he will come.” He also claimed that the president’s spat with Mrs May had been “misinterpreted”.
