Stamp shortage: reports from the front line
SIR – Kevin Gilliland, the retail chief executive of the Post Office (Letters, December 14), says: “There is no shortage of Christmas stamps in the Post Office network.”
This news had not reached the post office counter at Deddington Co-op on Wednesday. The man there told me he had no second-class stamps, and asked if I would like first-class instead. David Partridge
Aynho, Oxfordshire
SIR – On Tuesday our post office had no second-class stamps of any kind. The post office in the next village had only second-class stamps, having been told that no more Christmas stamps would be supplied this year. Anthony Marlow
Little Bookham, Surrey
SIR – I was able to buy Christmas stamps at my local post office – but, of 20, half were religious and half were illustrated with snowmen. So I bought double what I needed and will use the snowmen throughout the year. Margaret Zajaczkowska
