Council to evict woman who lives in a mud hut

A woman who lives in a mud hut says she will defy a council eviction order as she is “allergic” to the hotel it wants her to move into.

Kate Burrows, 46, and partner Alan, 48, built the home to stave off her allergies to mains water, electricity, Wi-fi and paint. She says she would be bedridden if forced to accept the offer of accommodation in a Travelodge.

The couple claim that the mud hut near Chumleigh in Devon has completely restored her health.

But North Devon Council issued an eviction notice because the couple had not been given planning permission.
