Candle safety message after Hanukkah fires
People celebrating the Jewish festival of Hanukkah have been given safety warnings after two fires were caused by unattended candles.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service warned people not to leave lit candles following two call-outs on Saturday. The service tweeted: “Candle safety alert. Don’t leave them unattended – particularly if you’re celebrating Hanukkah. Our crews attended two fires today caused by unattended menorah candles.”
During the eight-day festival, which began on Dec 12, candles in the menorah candle-holder are lit.
