Revellers ‘risked freezing’ outside rave

-

♦ Hundreds of partygoers who turned up for an illegal rave on an industrial estate were turned back at a town’s railway station amid fears they might end up freezing outside it.

Police warned young people who arrived wearing pyjamas and carrying alcohol that they might have to stand outside the venue in near-freezing temperatures, and advised them to go home. Victoria Way in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, was closed off but police said it would not have been “possible or safe” to close the event. It carried on until 5.30am, when the organisers ended it of their own accord.

Det Sgt Dave Morton, of Sussex Police, said: “There were no arrests but we are continuing to make inquiries into the event.”
