Police investigated after man, 25, dies in custody

An investigation has been launched into the conduct of four police officers after a 25-year-old man died in custody.

Nuno Cardoso was arrested in Oxford early on Nov 24. The Independent Police Complaints Commission says it understands Mr Cardoso, a law student from London, was being restrained and taken to a police station in a police van when he became unwell.

He died later in hospital. The IPCC is analysing police video footage of his arrest and the subsequent medical assistance he received. A post-mortem has proved inconclusive and his family have been informed.
