Elastic band shortage

sir – As a postman working at the delivery office covering the Surbiton area, I would be interested to know exactly where Roger Ellis lives so that I can raid his postman’s supply of rubber bands (Letters, December 19).

Since privatisation, penny-pinching by management has left us short of lots of essential equipment, including rubber bands. Mine go back in the bag, to be re-used the following day.
