Couple behind the £56,000 couture dress
RALPH AND RUSSO, the British company behind the dress worn by Meghan Markle, was founded in 2007 by Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, an Australian husband and wife design duo.
Described by The Daily Telegraph in 2015 as “couture’s coolest couple”, they began their company with a sewing machine and an ironing board and have gone on to build up a high-end client list of more than 600 fans.
Their London-made haute couture garments can cost up to £320,000, and clients include Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé and Gwyneth Paltrow. The company employs 100 skilled workers including embroiderers, tailors, fitters, designers and specialists, with a single couture dress taking at least six weeks.
