Park sold to allow statue removal

Memphis has sold one of its central city parks in order to take down two Confederate statues that state officials had banned it from removing.

The likenesses of Jefferson Davis and Nathan Bedford Forrest, who were rebel leaders, were taken down from Health Sciences Park overnight – just hours after it was sold to Memphis Greenspace, a private group, for $2,000 (£1,500).
