500 fake Fingerlings seized in raid
♦ Parents have been warned to watch out for counterfeit versions of must-have toys in the run-up to Christmas after 500 fake “Fingerlings” were seized in a raid by Trading Standards officials.
The consignment was on its way to a Dagenham warehouse.
The sold-out interactive toy animals, which sit on a user’s finger, sell online for more than six times their original price. Councils have warned that many of the thousands of counterfeit toys they have already seized have potentially posed a hazard for children. Genuine Fingerlings have the manufacturer’s details “Wowwee” printed on the packaging.
