SIR – Can anyone explain the mystery of Mary Berry as seen on television in these days before Christmas?

She wears the most beautiful pearl collar over a pristine cashmere sweater, and never a splash of chocolate roulade or meringue adheres to her form. Mine would be covered.

Then there is the magic of the sparkling oven. Why does nothing ever boil over and how does it stay so shiny and bright?

What about the heat of the kitchen? Why are there no burnt fingers, and certainly no red and shiny faces? Jenny Lockwood
