Golden opportunity for acne sufferers
Scientist are looking for 50 acne patients of all ages to try a pioneering treatment that could banish unsightly skin blemishes with gold dust.
The evaluation trial will test the new therapy, called Sebacia. Already approved in the US, it involves massaging a cream containing tiny particles of solid gold into skin pores.
A low power laser is then used to heat up the dust particles and reduce inflammation, hopefully causing spots to disappear in days. Dr Howard Stevens, a dermatologist, said: “This could be a real breakthrough.”
