RIHANNA has pleaded for an end to gun violence after her cousin was shot dead in Barbados just hours after they had spent Christmas Day together.

Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, 21, was shot several times as he was walking in the parish of St Michael at 7pm on Boxing Day. The killer fled the scene, while the victim died later in hospital in Bridgetown. He was the latest casualty of a surge in gun-related crimes on the Caribbean island. Earlier, police said there had been 28 murders in 2017, of which 22 involved guns. Last year, there were 16 gun-related murders.

The singer, 29, posted on Instagram: “RIP cousin ... can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!”

She added the hashtag #endgunviolence at the end of the post. “Rest up lil cuz,” she also wrote, adding photos of herself with her cousin to that post.
