A prince for Today

-

Radio producers across the country must have been gnashing their teeth with envy at the calibre of guests on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme yesterday morning. Barack Obama, the former US president, gave his first interview since leaving the White House, while the Prince of Wales spoke of how he felt vindicated that his past warnings of threats to the environment from climate change had now become mainstream orthodoxy.

Of course, it is easier to attract such guests when the editor of the programme in question is Prince Harry, who acquitted himself well as an interviewer even if his questions lacked the laser-like ferocity of John Humphrys’s interrogations. Then again, at a time of goodwill to all men, that came as a welcome relief.
