Three cheers for Kirstie and frivolous flirting
Every time wellheeled homemaker Kirstie Allsopp, 46, sounds off about something and gets “slammed” for her political incorrectness, I raise a cheer.
This time, the Location, Location, Location star is a bit miffed about having to tone down her on-air flirtatiousness with her copresenter Phil Spencer, 48.
I can see why producers would want to cut the unfunny gag where Phil muses about looking up Kirstie’s skirt as she descends a ladder – it’s already been earmarked for Mrs Brown’s Boys. Again.
But I share her aeration at being informed that calling Phil “darling” constitutes sexual harassment.
In which snowflaky universe would that be? Narnia?
She’s a redoubtable mother of three and her pique is entirely justified; flirtation is one of the few things that certifiably improves as a woman gets older and ought to be preserved for the nation.
A twentysomething may bat her eyelashes and play with her hair, but a forty-something can bowl over any man by playing with words.
It’s amusing, frivolous and good, clean fun.
Or has that been banned, too?
