- By Sophie Jamieson

STORM Dylan is expected to cause disruption tomorrow as the weather front brings a wet and windy end to the year.

Gusts of 80mph could hit Northern Ireland and southern Scotland as forecasters warned of “injuries and danger to life from flying debris”.

Heavy rain, snow, thunderstorms and wind gripped Britain yesterday. With the New Year approaching, a yellow warning for wind was issued for Northern Ireland and Scotland as Dylan began to roll over the region. Yesterday morning, parts of northern England and Scotland were greeted by blankets of thick snow, and the south coast was lashed by torrential downpours and lightning.

Homes were left without power and buildings damaged by gales. The Glasgow area saw the biggest snowfall, with more than 4in recorded in Bishopton, forcing the city’s airport, one of the UK’S busiest, to suspend flights.
