Receipt retreat

SIR – I am, by now, used to being asked whether I need a bag after every purchase. If the answer is “yes”, I am charged 5p.

However, the latest request puzzles me. Whether my bill is £10 or £100, I am almost always asked: “Do you need a receipt?”

Will there soon be a charge for this service, I wonder? Gina Coleman
