20 Isil suspects held in Istanbul

Turkey arrested more suspected Isil jihadists yesterday in a crackdown on the extremist group before the New Year celebrations.

Authorities detained 20 suspects in Istanbul, 15 of them foreigners, the Dogan news agency said. Turkish media said the authorities had detained around 200 suspected jihadists in recent days, fearing an attack over the New Year period.
