Oldman: I improved Churchill’s speeches

The recordings of Winston Churchill reprising his best-known speeches sounded “dry and repetitive”, Gary Oldman, the actor, has revealed. Oldman, who plays the wartime prime minister in the film Darkest Hour, told The Daily Telegraph he took the recordings, made several years after Churchill originally delivered them, as templates rather than something to mimic. “The delivery is dry and rather repetitive. I gave it a little pinch of Henry V,” he added.
