German bomber emerges from its coastal grave

-

The wreckage of a German bomber shot down in the Second World War has been uncovered by storms on the Norfolk coast.

Strong tides have revealed the mangled remains of the Heinkel on a beach near Blakeney. It is believed to have been hit by fire from an RAF Blenheim night-fighter on June 19, 1940, before crash landing in shallow waters close to the beach.

All four airmen on board survived and were taken prisoner.

The wreckage was blown up in 1969 when it became a threat to shipping.

Now shifting shorelines and strong tides on the coast have uncovered the 77-year-old rusting remains.
