Taiwan mother forces son to pay her £710,000

-

A Taiwanese single mother has won a court case forcing her son to pay her £710,000 for raising him and helping fund his training as a dentist.

The court ruled that the son must stick to the terms of a contract signed when he was 20, saying he would pay his mother 60 per cent of his income after qualifying. When he stopped paying, the mother – identified only by her surname Luo – took him to court, winning the right to back payments plus interest. The divorcee drew up the contract as she feared her son would not pay for her care in old age.
