Queen’s gift to Princess Margaret sells for £7,000

A large brooch that was a personal gift from the Queen to Princess Margaret has sold for more than £7,000.

The Queen had the back of the Charles de Temple white gold brooch inscribed with the words “To my Dearest sister, love Lilibet”.

Lilibet is the affectionate name by which the Queen is known by close members of the Royal Family.

It is believed the 18ct white gold jewellery was presented during a formal Royal occasion in about 1970.

Princess Margaret later gave the jewel to a member of the public as a way to say thank you for work she had done for her.
