‘Vegan spike’ chef resigns after she gets death threats
The Italian-born chef at the centre of a row over claims she spiked a vegan’s food quit her job yesterday after receiving death threats.
Laura Goodman, 47, wrote on Facebook about how she spent hours preparing a menu for a party of vegan and vegetarian guests at her Italian restaurant on Saturday night but was angered when one of them ordered a pizza topped with mozzarella.
Ms Goodman, who runs the Carlini restaurant in Albrighton, West Mids, with her fiancé Michael Gale, 62, wrote: “Pious, judgmental ‘vegan’ (who I spent all day cooking for) has gone to bed, still believing she’s a ‘vegan’.”
A friend said: “The police are taking the threats against her very seriously.”
