Blair v Brexit
SIR – Tony Blair thinks the Labour Party should work to take Britain back into the EU (report, January 4), despite the fact that the majority of British people voted otherwise.
Why? Because he thinks he’s right, just as he did with Iraq. I always thought politicians were elected to represent the people. Clearly that was never Mr Blair’s view. Gerald Payman

SIR – Every time Mr Blair bangs on about reversing Brexit, it strengthens my belief that the referendum result will not be stolen from the silent majority who voted to leave.
This europhile par excellence should for once in his life do the decent thing: either put up with the democratic will of the nation or emigrate to continental Europe. He can rest assured that no one will miss him here. Jean Maigrot

SIR – Mr Blair thinks people should be given another chance to approve the terms of the Brexit negotiation achieved by the Government.
It is a shame he didn’t feel the same in 2007 and give us the chance to approve the terms of his negotiation of the Lisbon Treaty. Ian Macgregor

SIR – Mr Blair says that in the referendum our future outside the EU was never spelt out.
But nor was our future within the EU, with its plans for an integrated army, further political integration, further expansion and more migration. Then there would be pressures to join the euro and the Schengen Agreement.
These were my reasons for voting to leave, along with the possibility of the EU collapsing. In any case, if we were to go back to Brussels to repent, what kind of punishment would Mr Blair be prepared to accept? Gordon Brown
