Van driver arrested after two killed in M42 crash
A van driver involved in a motorway crash in which two women were killed was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs.
The 37-year-old man, from Birmingham, has been released by police pending further inquiries into the incident on the M42 in Warwickshire. A woman in her 60s and another in her 50s were pronounced dead at the scene near Curdworth after a collision involving a Mercedes van and a Vauxhall Meriva. Emergency crews were called out at 3.20am yesterday. Police said the fatally injured women were passengers in the rear of the Vauxhall.
