SIR – If people need their shot of coffee in the mornings but are against paying a 25p levy for a disposable cup (report, January 5), why not make it at home before setting out, or persuade employers to provide coffee-making facilities?

SIR – Christophe­r Pratt (Letters, December 31) complains about the extortiona­te price of bottled water in Nice airport.

To address this, airports should be required to provide drinking water fountains airside so that people can fill their empty bottles once they have passed through security. This would reduce the number of bottles that have to be thrown away. Mary-lou Kellaway
