£8,000 for colleague’s ‘hurtful’ remarks

A restaurant worker told by a co-worker “any woman who doesn’t have kids is not a real woman” has been awarded £8,000 for “injured feelings” and £581 for lost earnings at an employment tribunal.

Jewel Minchella, 37, who is childless, said she was “very upset” by the comments by a Chuck Burger colleague on June 18 2017, having had a fibroid surgery the previous year.

She complained to the manager and chased up bosses six times demanding action but they did not reply and she was made redundant a month later, the tribunal at Stratford was told.
