Cast adrift

A mysterious life-size cast of artist Antony Gormley stands in the flooded crypt of Winchester Cathedral. The celebrated British sculptor’s enigmatic statue is contemplating the water held in its cupped hands and is titled Sound II. It was fashioned from lead out of a plaster cast of Gormley’s own body and stands alone in the crypt, which is prone to flooding during rainy months.
