Dangerous waters

SIR – Rather than look for dead livestock when she drinks from streams as she walks in the hills, Patricia Jagger (Letters, January 8) would be better advised to ensure there are no live sheep and cattle around. Water contaminated by liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica) from such animals can cause significant illness in humans. Nigel Mckie
