Wahlberg ‘earned 1,500 times co-star’s fee’
MARK WAHLBERG, the actor, was paid 1,500 times the fee given to his female co-star, Michelle Williams, to reshoot the film All The Money in the World, it has been reported.
The film underwent last-minute reshoots in November after Kevin Spacey, who originally starred as J Paul Getty, the oil tycoon, was at the centre of dozens of sexual misconduct allegations. Ridley Scott, the director, brought in Christopher Plummer to replace him – to critical success – but the switch meant that Williams and Wahlberg also had to film their scenes again.
A USA Today report claims that while Williams was paid $1,000 (£740) to reshoot her scenes with Plummer, Wahlberg was paid $1.5million.
The findings go against Scott’s original statement to the media organisation. In January, the British director said his cast worked on the re-shoots unpaid: “Everyone did it for nothing,” Scott said. “I wouldn’t get paid, I refused to get paid. [The actors] all came in free. Christopher had to get paid. But Michelle, no.” USA Today reported that Wahlberg’s team actually negotiated a significant fee for his reshoots, but Williams was not told. Both Wahlberg and Williams are represented by the William Morris Endeavor Agency, which is yet to comment on the story.
Regarding the reshoots, Williams had previously said she’d been generous with her time: “I said I’d be wherever they needed me, whenever they needed me. And they could have my salary, they could have my holiday, whatever they wanted. Because I appreciated so much that they were making this massive effort.”
