Corbyn: Mcvey’s new role ‘alarming for disabled people’

- By Steven Swinford

JEREMY CORBYN has been accused of fuelling a campaign of hate against Esther Mcvey after his spokesman said that her appointment is “alarming” for disabled people.

Ms Mcvey has been targeted with death threats and described by Mr Corbyn’s supporters as a “murderess” after she was appointed as Work and Pensions Secretary.

While condemning the abuse, a spokesman for Mr Corbyn said that Ms Mcvey is “extremely unpopular because of her record in the last government and the treatment of disabled people under that government. It is alarming that she has taken this role.”

Ms Mcvey served as employment minister before losing her seat in 2015 but was re-elected last year.
