Why baby photos are best kept for the album

- By Victoria Ward

THEY are notoriously hard to avoid and are often met with fixed, polite smiles.

But now a survey has confirmed what many of us have suspected for a long time; more than half of men and women could not care less about seeing photos of your baby.

The question was posed by Yougov as part of its daily series of questions answered online by several thousand members of the public: “Generally speaking, how do you feel about being shown recent photos of a friend or family member’s baby?” Almost 40 per cent responded that they had no burning desire to study snaps of someone else’s little bundle of joy, expressing no like or dislike.

Some 10 per cent said they disliked it and a similar number said they hated it.

On the other side, around a quarter of the more than 4,200 respondents admitted they did like looking at baby photos while 10 per cent of those asked went as far as to say they loved it.

Of the respondents, men tended to express the most negativity towards the pastime, while more women were in favour of it.
