I’m addicted to Diet Coke, says Falconer

A FORMER lord chancellor has told of how a weight loss regime of Diet Coke and apples has left him with an addiction to the drink.

Lord Falconer lost 5st after embarking on a strict diet, but three years on the 66-year-old has said it left him craving the drink, consuming up to 15 cans a day.

He went from being more than 16st to 11st 2lb in 2014. But the Labour peer is now “completely addicted”.

In an interview with BBC Radio 4, he said: “It is a sort of prop. Other people might use cigarettes or alcohol, I use Diet Coke.”
