Cranberries singer, 46, found dead in hotel
DOLORES O’RIORDAN, lead singer of The Cranberries, the Irish rock group, has died suddenly at the age of 46.
Her body was found yesterday at the Park Lane Hilton hotel in London.
The musician, who was staying in the capital while recording, had spoken last month about feeling better after the band had cancelled a string of shows last year.
The death of the star, who had bipolar disorder, was being treated last night as “unexplained” by detectives.
A statement from her publicist said: “Irish and international singer Dolores O’riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old.
“No further details are available at this time. Family members are devastated to hear the news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
The singer, from Friarstown, Kilmallock, Co Limerick, was renowned for her distinctive singing voice and the band enjoyed success in the Nineties with tracks such as Zombie and Linger.
