Husband who beat wife with Peppa Pig book blamed tough boarding school

-

 A businessman who beat his wife blamed his tough upbringing at boarding school, a court heard.

Edward Linse, 46, launched a tirade of abuse at Papapait, a Thai graphic designer, then hit her repeatedly with a shoe before grabbing their two-yearold daughter’s Peppa Pig book and hitting her over the head with it.

He lost his temper after their child cried while having a bath following a stressful day trying to resolve issues Mrs Linse was having with her visa.

At Stockport magistrates’ court, Linse admitted assault and was handed a 12-month community order, told to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and made the subject of a 12-month restraining order. He must pay £50 in compensation plus £335 costs.

Peter Malone, Linse’s lawyer, said: “He went to a boarding school and found that he struggled whilst he was there and he couldn’t properly deal with his emotions. That has led to this sort of his behaviour.”

The court heard how the couple met while he was on holiday in Thailand. They married in 2015 and had two children. They moved in with Linse’s parents in England in August at their £1.2million home in Nether Alderley, Cheshire, but their new life ran into difficulties when a mistake on an application form led to Mrs Linse being refused a UK visa. Her temporary visa expires next month.
