‘I am telling the truth’: Dylan Farrow repeats claims of abuse

- By Rozina Sabur in Washington

DYLAN FARROW will appear on television to repeat claims that Woody Allen sexually assaulted her as a child in a plea to have her accusations recognised.

Farrow, 32, has repeatedly claimed her adoptive father sexually assaulted her at the family’s home when she was seven years old, and criticised actors who work with the Hollywood director.

In what is her first television interview, she says: “I am credible, and I am telling the truth, and I think it’s important that people realise that one victim, one accuser, matters. And that they are enough to change things.”

She adds that she has chosen to appear on television in the hope that seeing her make the claims on camera would convince people of the veracity of her claims. “All I can do is speak my truth and hope that someone will believe me instead of just hearing [me],” she says.

During the interview, which will be broadcast on CBS today, Farrow appears angry at the suggestion she is using the current #metoo campaign in Hollywood to destroy Allen.

“Why shouldn’t I want to bring him down? Why shouldn’t I be angry? Why shouldn’t I be hurt?” she asks.

“Why shouldn’t I feel some sort of outrage … after all these years of being ignored, disbelieved and tossed aside?”

Her comments come after she used a newspaper article to question why the Oscar-winning director had been spared by the “revolution” that ended Harvey Weinstein’s career.

Allen, 82, has faced renewed questions over his alleged behaviour as he prepares for the release of his latest film at a time when Hollywood is still coming to grips with its history of sexual harassment and abuse.

Allen has always vehemently denied Farrow’s claims that he molested her in an attic in 1992 when she was seven.

He was investigated over the accusation and a state prosecutor said he had “probable cause” to prosecute in 1993 but did not file charges.
